"Nature is a tool to get children to experience not just the wider world, but themselves."
It was windy and cold on Tuesday afternoon so the kids at after school care worked together to build an amazing storm shelter out of branches and pine needles.
Sometimes what the kids come up with on their own is way better than what adults could ever plan!

Join us this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Colfax Elementary for a Parent Information Night for all incoming preschool, TK, and kindergarten students. Come tour the classrooms and learn about how Colfax EL builds a strong educational foundation through hands-on learning, positive relationships, and confidence building.

Dear Colfax Families,
Looking ahead, there may be a chance of snow in the Colfax area next week. As a reminder, our administrative staff continually monitors the weather and road conditions to determine if Colfax Elementary is open for operation. We will notify you through email, text, or phone before school starts if we are closing school for the day. Otherwise, it is safe to assume that school is open and ready for learning to occur! You can always contact our school office at (530) 346-2202 starting at 7:30 a.m. if you have a question. Enjoy your weekend!
Sincerely,
Andy Giannini
Superintendent

During Kindness week the kids in After School Care learned the important lesson of taking accountability for their actions by writing apology letters. We use these letters to help the children understand how their actions affect others. These notes are used for various reasons, whether it's hurting a friend's feelings or body, being disruptive or leaving a mess for others to clean up. We hope to need them less and less as the year progresses.

Fifth grade had a wonderful day leaping back in time to the founding of our Nation with the Walk Through The Revolutionary War presentation. Thank you to all the family members for helping your students prepare for this awesome learning experience.
